Why choose Practical Horsemanship Courses?

Dan & Grants’ experience comes from doing the job on a daily basis. They not only teach or perform public demonstrations, but have busy yards taking in problem and young horses or are out performing regular callouts up and down the country and across Europe.

As each horse is an individual this gives the boys a vast array of ideas and experience as to how to train each horse and help each owner. These ideas and experiences can then be passed on to their students.

The courses are designed to cover every level of experience and cater for every need, from the single horse owner looking for day to day ideas, to build a better understanding and relationship with their horse, to individuals looking for a career working with these methods and all those in between.

The courses are taught in a fun and relaxed manner. Remember we have horses for pleasure. Our intention through education is to make every moment spent with your horse exactly that. We aim on Practical Horsemanship courses to not only provide excellent theory-based tuition but also to give each student extensive hands on practical time with a wide variety of horses.

To bring out the best in each student we strongly encourage a team atmosphere amongst our students, as teamwork is so important when training horses. Our courses are not only a place of study but are also social events bringing together likeminded people and ideas.

The courses can be booked individually and taken in any order, however, students that have completed the three day introduction to Practical Horsemanship course will get priority for places when booking further courses.

Practical Horsemanship courses are open to all aged over 18 years. Applicants aged 16 or over are welcome to apply, but must be accompanied by a responsible adult at additional cost as a spectator (£20 a day). Students can bring their own horses if they wish for a fee of ₤10 per stable per night by prior arrangement. Local accommodation is available at varying rates to suit all pockets from camping to nice hotels (list provided on application). Hot and cold drinks provided throughout the day. Spectators can view the courses at a charge of ₤20 per day. Please apply in advance to ensure space.

Practical Horsemanship Courses provide sound practical advice incorporating various methods of equine training. The courses are taught in a fun and relaxed manner and cater for all levels of experience. Classes are limited to a maximum of 12 students so you can have as much attention from the tutors as required. There are plenty of opportunities for hands on learning, each course being a mixture of theory and practical work.

Each course is backed up with complementary notes, Practical Horsemanship information packs and merchandise. Whilst attending a course there will be ample opportunity as a group to continue topical discussions after hours in a relaxed social atmosphere.

On application for a course a student will receive an acceptance letter, accommodation list and a more detailed course content booklet.
